For “True Lies”, the “Terminator” team James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger have teamed up again. The action fireworks can now finally be seen on Disney+.

When James Cameron lets it rip, he does it right. For the action thriller “True Lies”, which can now finally be streamed on the Disney+ subscription, he spent a whopping 100 million US dollars in 1994 – and put Arnold Schwarzenegger not only on a horse, but also in a fighter jet!

The result, of course, was a blast. True Lies” brought in a respectable 379 million US dollars worldwide, once again showcased Schwarzenegger as an outstanding action star with comedic talent and let Jamie Lee Curtis shine in an unforgettable dance performance.

THIS IS WHAT “TRUE LIES” IS ABOUT

Harry Tasker (Arnie) leads a double life: While his wife Helen (Jamie Lee Curtis) and daughter Dana (Eliza Dushku) think he’s a simple computer salesman, the family man is actually fighting the world’s most dangerous criminals on a regular basis to keep the peace in the world.

His latest mission: Arab terrorists who have come into possession of Russian nuclear warheads. While Harry is on the trail and meets, among others, the shady art dealer Juno Skinner (Tia Carrere), his wife Helen is gripped by the desire for an extra-marital love adventure. And soon Harry’s professional difficulties merge with his marital problems…

WHERE IS “TRUE LIES 2” ANYWAY?

For a good 25 years now, the rumour has been circulating through Hollywood that a sequel to “True Lies” was at least in the planning stages. However, we have not yet been able to see a second appearance of Harry Tasker on the big screen. And that is unlikely to change in the near future, although you can watch the series of the same name starring Steve Howey on Disney+.

However, the series, which was greenlit in early 2021, has been cancelled after just one season. After all, the pilot of the “True Lies” series was directed by “Terminator: Salvation” creator McG. James Cameron produced the series together with “Burn Notice” creator Matt Nix.

Incidentally, what many fans of “True Lies” may also not be aware of is that James Cameron’s spectacular action blockbuster was a loose remake! The French action comedy “The Joker and the Jackpot” served as a model, which unfortunately never received an official exploitation for home cinema in this country.
