On his blog, Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh has unveiled the official Command Z trailer for his surprise sci-fi comedy, starring Michael Cera. The 8-episode time travel series comes after yesterday’s streaming debut of Soderbergh’s latest Max miniseries Full Circle.
The series will be available for streaming on July 17 on Soderbergh’s Extension765 website, where you can now view the upcoming project’s official trailer.
What is Command Z about?
Set in a dystopian future, Command Z will feature Michael Cera as scientist, who enlists three individuals to travel back to 2023 through a wormhole in a washing machine. The unlikely group are tasked to make some “critical fixes” in the past in order to make the future or their present more livable, fair, and decent for everyone.
In addition to Cera, the project will also star Roy Wood Jr., Chloe Radcliffe, Jacqueline Antaramian, and J.J. Maley, with Ray Donovan’s Liev Schreiber, whose character is described as the mission “most important target.”
Soderbergh is best known for directing the star-studded Ocean’s Eleven and Magic Mike trilogies. Command Z won’t be the award-winning filmmaker’s first venture into the sci-fi genre, as he previously directed 2022’s sci-fi thriller Kimi.
