Cineverse has officially acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to the Chinese animated epic fantasy titled Warrior King. The film will arrive in U.S. theaters on August 25.
In addition, the Warrior King trailer for its U.S. release has also been released, promising an action-packed underdog story of an outcast who became his people’s savior.

What to Expect in Warrior King?
Warrior King is directed by Lu Qi from a screenplay co-written by Lu Wunan and Wang Yunsheng. The film centers around the epic true story of the legendary hero and warrior King Gesar. It is considered one of Central Asia’s literary classics and was passed down in oral tradition for some 1,000 years, as well as literary, poetic and stage play versions.
“In the film, King Gesar was born to a divine lineage and was destined to become a great hero and ruler,” reads the synopsis. “As a young man, the future king grew up exiled in a realm overrun by menacing demons and monsters. When evil forces threaten his home, he embarks on a heroic journey to save his people and fulfill his destiny as a legendary leader.”
