Apple TV+ has released The Changeling trailer for its upcoming horror fantasy, starring Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield as Apollo, a father and husband who suddenly finds himself crossing a dark supernatural fairytale world. The series will be available for streaming on September 8 with the first three episodes. It will then be followed by one episode weekly through October 13.
The video begins with a woman narrating a strange encounter during her time in Brazil, where she went to a forbidden lagoon. There, an old lady gives her three mystery wishes which will only come true if her red string bracelet falls off her wrist. The trailer highlights Apollo’s perilous journey to an unknown world after his wife suddenly disappears following the birth of their son.

The Changeling is based on Victor LaValle’s bestselling novel of the same name. It is described as a fairytale for grown-ups. “A horror story, a parenthood fable and a perilous odyssey through a New York City you didn’t know existed,” reads the logline. Joining Stanfield are Clark Backo, Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, Jared Abrahamson, with Malcolm Barrett.
The series is written and executive produced by Cruella’s Kelly Marcel, who is also serving as the showrunner. The pilot was directed by Melina Matsoukas, with Apple Studios and Annapurna producing the adaptation. Executive produces are LaValle, Stanfield, Megan Ellison, Patrick Chu, Ali Krug, David Knoller, Jonathan van Tulleken, Sue Naegle, David Wolkis, and Khaliah Neal.
