New trailer for “Ahsoka” gives a hint: This is how Hayden Christensen returns.

by Mike

After his comeback in the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, “Star Wars” prequel star Hayden Christensen is also in “Ahsoka.” But how is that possible? There’s a very clear clue in a brief new preview.

It was a sensation for all fans of the much-maligned “Star Wars” prequels at the time: almost 20 years after “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”, Hayden Christensen returned to the galaxy far, far away in “Obi-Wan Kenobi” – both as Anakin Skywalker (in a training flashback) and as sinister Sith Lord Darth Vader.

But that was obviously just the beginning: It was announced a while ago that Christensen will also be part of the upcoming “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka.” Here, however, it will be even more exciting to see in which form his appearance will take place, since Anakin or Darth Vader is already dead at the time of the main storyline of the series (a few years after “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi Knights”).

The new trailer for “Ahsoka” now seems to anticipate the answer. There are still no new scenes with Anakin to see, but to hear. And here it sounds as if we get (at least) a flashback to the time at the beginning of the Clone Wars, when Ahsoka has just become a Jedi student of Anakin. So Hayden Christensen says off-camera, “In this war, you’ll be dealing with more than just droids. As your master, it’s my responsibility to prepare you. I won’t always be there to watch over you. Do not be afraid. Trust your instincts. I know you can do this, Ahsoka. “

A JEDI AND HIS PADAWAN

That Anakin plays a role in the new “Star Wars” series is also quite obvious. Although the primarily continues some plot lines from the animated series “Star Wars Rebels”, ex-Jedi Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) herself, as Anakin’s former Padawan, built up a very special friendship with him before she turned her back on the Jedi Order (seen in the “Rebels” prequel series “The Clone Wars”).

The fact that she still has to deal with Anakin’s departure to the dark side of the Force was already hinted at in “The Mandalorian” and is now likely to be further explored in Ahsoka’s own series. It remains to be seen whether there will be more flashbacks than the one hinted at in the preview above and/or whether we might see Hayden Christensen as a Force ghost or once again as Darth Vader.

First and foremost, though, Ahsoka, with the support of her allies Sabine Wren (Natasha Lio Bordizzo) and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), who are familiar from “Rebels,” sets out to find “Rebels” hero Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), who disappeared into hyperspace along with Imperial villain Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) some time ago.

We’ll find out how it all comes together in just over a week: “Ahsoka” starts on Disney+ on August 23, 2023. It kicks off with a double episode. The remaining six episodes of the series will then appear at weekly intervals always on Wednesdays.
