For a long time it was quiet about a sequel to the Netflix Western hit “The Harder They Fall”. But on social media, director Jeymes Samuel has now given a sign of life and let it slip that work is still underway on the project.
Western fans were treated to brutal, bloody genre fare on Netflix in 2021 with “The Harder They Fall.” In terms of content, this was about two hostile gangs who engage in a relentless war. In addition, the revenge thriller featured a notable cast. Among others, Idris Elba (“Thor” and “Avengers” films) and Jonathan Majors (“Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania”), who are known from Marvel films, were in front of the camera for the film. They were supported by Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool”) and DC star and Oscar winner Regina King (“Watchmen” series).
Already after the success of the western, the director indicated that there would be plans for a sequel. Unfortunately, no regular news followed after that, but first a long silence. But now there is finally a sign of life from “The Harder They Fall 2”.
In response to a tweet from a fan who had just re-watched “The Harder They Fall” and expressed a desire for a sequel, an unexpected reaction came. None other than Jeymes Samuel, director of the first part, responded to the post with his X-profile The Bullitts, indicating that a sequel is being worked on.

HOW TO DEAL WITH JONATHAN MAJORS?
This is welcome news for fans of the revenge western. But one question is likely to arise already: How to deal with Jonathan Majors? The then aspiring actor has become a big deal in the meantime, but is currently facing charges. He is accused of violence and abuse and the trial is still ongoing.
Since Majors was the key figure of the first part with Nat Love, he might be hard to replace. Majors’ trial is scheduled for September 6, 2023. The outcome of the trial could also have a significant impact on the development of “The Harder They Fall 2”.
So far, there is no detailed plot information about the film – so it is also conceivable that a completely new group will be at the center of the plot this time. The option of a prequel would also be conceivable. Since there is currently a strike in Hollywood and those responsible at Netflix will probably first wait for the proceedings against Majors, a Netflix start of the sequel before 2025 is not to be expected.
