Our video editor Sebastian Gerdshikow covers the most important questions about the first two episodes of “Ahsoka” in his video – and of course he also goes into some of the Easter Eggs.
In the first two episodes “Ahsoka” series creator and head writer Dave Filoni, who also directed the first episode himself, and director Steph Green quote abundantly the previous “Star Wars” movies and series. Our big explainer video is also a bit about Easter Eggs, but mostly we get to the bottom of some of the big questions from the series.
Before we take up some of them here as well, a quick note: If you want to see more from Sebastian, we recommend you check out our YouTube channel, where you can also watch the “Star Wars Rebels” video we talked about, enter the giveaway, and get involved in the theories.
THESE ARE THE NIGHTSISTERS AND IS EZRA BRIDGER HIDDEN HERE?
Those unfamiliar with the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” or the video game “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” may have scratched their heads at the revelation that Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Insosanto) is a Nightsister, a witch of Dathomir. The sisters make their live-action debut with this character – and offer new possibility for the “Star Wars” universe. For the witches, like the Jedi and the Sith, are Force users.
Working on behalf of Morgan Elsbeth is the mysterious Marrok, alongside former Jedi Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). Clearly reminiscent of an Inquisitor, the fighter is already making the Internet glow with fan theories. He is played by stuntman Paul Darnell, who also starred in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett”.
The assumption is obvious that there is an already known figure behind this. After all, the whole appearance with helmet and armor screams for a later revelation of the identity. So is it perhaps already Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) who has turned to the dark side? The author of these lines thinks the speculation is obvious, but for various reasons doesn’t believe that the young Jedi is now suddenly running around in Inquisitor armor.
In the full video, Sebastian also elaborates on the revelation that Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) was taken to another galaxy by the Purrgils – and reveals why we may be seeing the character very, very soon. By the way, if you want to learn more about the complex as well as legendary “Star Wars” villain, we can offer you an exciting book trilogy. In the “Thrawn – The Rise” books “Threatened Doom”, “Hidden Enemy” and “Expensive Victory” he is the hero of the story, who as a young military officer defends his homeland (which, by the way, also plays a role in his later serving the Empire) and gets caught up in political intrigue.
By the way, “Ahsoka” continues on Disney+ on August 30, 2023 – and very early. As with the series opener with two episodes, the third episode will be released as early as 3:00 in the night. So if you feel like watching the “Star Wars” series right after you get up, you can stream it right away.
