Infinity Pool: science fiction horror film directed by Brandon Cronenberg and starring Alexander Skarsgård and Mia Goth.

Plot and background

Author James (Alexander Skarsgård) and his partner Em (Cleopatra Coleman) enjoy the perfect vacation at a secluded island resort with pristine sunny beaches, including attentive staff who will read your every wish from your eyes. However, under the guidance of the seductive and mysterious Gabi (Mia Goth), they venture out of the resort grounds, resulting in a tragic unforeseen accident that changes the couple’s fate forever.

James and Em find themselves in a parallel world of violence, hedonism and unspeakable horror. The accident confronts them with the prevailing zero-tolerance policy for crime and presents them with an unimaginable choice: be executed, or, if you can afford it, watch yourself die.

“Infinity Pool” – background, cast, theatrical release

With “Infinity Pool,” writer-director Brandon Cronenberg brings to the big screen a science fiction horror film in which an idyllic resort turns into a deeply disturbing nightmare scenario. The filmmaker and son of Canadian director, screenwriter and actor David Cronenberg (“Crash”) already proved his skills in the science fiction horror genre with films such as “Antiviral” and “Possessor.”

“Infinity Pool” also shines with an international, renowned cast. Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård (“Legend of Tarzan”) and Australian actress Cleopatra Coleman (“In the Shadow of the Moon”) are presented with a terrifying choice as an unsuspecting couple. Mia Goth, who particularly impressed in 2022 with her starring role in the horror films “X” and “Pearl,” will hopefully live up to her unofficial fan title as “Scream Queen” in “Infinity Pool.” Jalil Lespert (“Yves Saint Laurent”), Thomas Kretschmann (“The Pianist”), Jeffrey Ricketts (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”) and Amanda Brugel (“The Handmaids Tale”) were in front of the camera in other roles.

On January 22, 2023, the film will celebrate its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, while the European premiere will take place at the Berlin International Film Festival. The German theatrical release for “Infinity Pool” is April 20, 2023.
