Plot and background
Literature fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the third and final volume of the Dedalus novel series, after the first two installments enjoyed great popularity. Publisher Eric Angstrom (Lambert Wilson) is all the more anxious to keep all the information about the sequel as secret as possible, because he senses a million-dollar business.
Angstrom hires nine professional translators from all over the world to translate the eagerly awaited book of the bestselling trilogy into their respective languages. After handing over all their electronic equipment, the translators are to set to work under extreme security measures in the closely guarded bunker of a mansion. But when the publisher suddenly receives a message from an unknown blackmailer, the supposed dream job turns into a nightmare. The blackmailer claims to have already put the first ten pages of the work online and demands a sum of millions to stop publication. Distrust is sown among the imprisoned translators and the situation becomes increasingly unhinged – with deadly consequences.

In France, the sophisticated thriller was already released three years earlier, but now “The Enigma” will also start in cinemas here on June 1, 2023.
