On September 28, 2023, the time has finally come – there are fresh “Castlevania” supplies! And the new trailer for “Castlevania: Nocturne” should make fans really want more…

With “Castlevania”, Netflix ended one of the most popular animated series on the streaming platform in May 2021. But as it is with popular and especially successful stories these days, that’s not the end of it. Not really. A good two and a half years later, a new chapter in the historical vampire saga is about to begin with “Castlevania: Nocturne”.

“Castlevania: Nocturne” starts on September 28, 2023 exclusively on Netflix. And after a first trailer at the end of July already provided exciting glimpses of the spin-off, the streaming giant with the red N has now released the official main trailer for the series three weeks before launch – on the basis of which fans of the parent series can now slowly get a good idea of whether the spin-off will be able to keep up with the original.

The target audience is already pretty excited in the comments on YouTube: “Literally goosebumps,” “This will be epic,” and “I’m so hyped,” among other things, can be read there. In addition to the faithfulness to the original, the animations in particular have received a lot of praise and encouragement. Here, the creators pick up exactly where “Castlevania” left off two years ago – because even the series was celebrated not only, but also for its visual ingenuity.

“CASTLEVANIA: NOCTURNE”: FINALLY THE WAIT IS OVER

Already in June 2021, Netflix had announced that after four seasons, it will not be the end with “Castlevania”. And now the time has finally come: in a few weeks we will finally see what showrunner and “Castlevania” newcomer Clive Bradley and the directing duo Adam and Sam Seats, who already directed the 32 episodes of the original series, have been tinkering with over the past two years.

“Castlevania” is based on the video game template of the same name from the 1980s, which was repeatedly expanded on various consoles until a few years ago and was thus able to gather a huge fan base around it over time. In the center is usually a vampire hunter of the Belmont family, who armed with holy water, crucifix and Co. hunts bloodsuckers.

Set in the 15th century, the mother series thus revolves around Vlad Dracula Tepes, who turns his back on humans after his wife is burned at the stake, and disgraced vampire hunter Trevor Belmont.

The spin-off “Nocturne” is set during the French Revolution: in 1792, riots and political executions are the order of the day. While the civilian population no longer wants to be ruled by unworldly rulers, the high nobility in particular is feeling the wrath of the citizens. And the upper class? They now have to get creative and resort to unorthodox means to secure their dwindling power:

A mysterious vampire is to win the battle for them – and nip the revolution in the bud once and for all. But the price is high, he wants to subjugate humanity in return and enforce his regiment with the support of infernal monsters. The sorceress Annette takes up the fight against the seemingly invincible bloodsucker…
