ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive Freedom’s Path clip from the upcoming Civil War drama from writer and director Brett Smith. The film is set to release in theaters on Friday, September 8 then digitally and through video-on-demand platforms on Friday, October 6.
What is Freedom’s Path about?
“After a Union soldier (Gerran Howell) flees from battle, rescue comes unexpectedly from a free black man (RJ Cyler) operating a section of the Underground Railroad,” reads the film’s synopsis. “But when a ruthless and desperate slave catcher (Ewen Bremner) discovers the secret network, he conspires to bring it burning to the ground.”

Freedom’s Path was written and directed by Brett Smith and stars Gerran Howell, RJ Cyler, Ewen Bremner, Afemo Omilami, the late Thomas Jefferson Byrd, Steven Swadling, and Harrison Gilbertson.
