A Mortal Kombat 1 launch trailer has been released by NetherRealm Studios, giving fans a look at Shang Tsung and Reiko’s fighting styles before the game’s launch next week.
What happens in the Mortal Kombat 1 launch trailer?
The trailer briefly recaps the premise of Mortal Kombat 1‘s story mode, which sees Earthrealm and Outworld competing in a tournament. Iconic characters from the franchise are present, like Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raidenm Kung Lao, and more. Multiple different characters are shown in battle, with Shang Tsung, Reiko, Reptile, and more having their individual combat styles shown off for fans eager to take the reins for themselves when the title launches in a week.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 19 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Despite the title, it is the twelfth mainline entry in the Mortal Kombat franchise and the second reboot after Mortal Kombat (2011). The title takes place in the new timeline made by Liu Kang following the events of Mortal Kombat 11’s story mode.
