First trailer for the most anticipated horror series of the year: Netflix

by Han

With “Doctor Sleep”, “Haunted Hill House” & “Midnight Mass” Mike Flanagan moulted to one of the hopes of the current horror cinema. Now his latest prank is in the house: “The Fall of the House of Usher” – from October 12 on Netflix.

In just a few years, Mike Flanagan has risen to become one of the horror masters who are currently spreading fear and terror with their films (and series!) – and the 45-year-old is currently doing this more consistently and constantly than almost anyone else. His latest project is therefore likely to be one of the most anticipated series: “The Fall of the House of Usher”.

Will the horror genius be able to follow up on his previous successes with his latest format? That’s exactly what you’ll be able to find out for yourself in just a few weeks. Because the Edgar Allan Poe adaptation starts on October 12, 2023 exclusively on Netflix.

The first trailer for “The Fall Of The House Of Usher” (the original title) promises once again atmospheric horror entertainment and a coherent mix of creepy under the skin and merciless shock moments – which could actually live up to the almost iconic template.

THIS IS “THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER “

While other works by Edgar Allan Poe are also to be included in the series, “The Fall of the House of Usher” is based primarily on the short story of the same name – which not only bookworms but also movie connoisseurs may already be familiar with. First adapted in 1928 in the form of a French silent film, new adaptations have followed over the years – perhaps most famously Roger Corman’s 1960 film starring Vincent Price. But Mike Flanagan was also able to gather all sorts of big names and familiar faces for his version:

In addition to “Star Wars” legend Mark Hamill, the filmmaker relies primarily on actors and actresses with whom he has already worked in the past with great success. The cast also includes Bruce Greenwood as patriarch Roderick Usher, Mary McDonnell as matriarch Madeline Usher, Carla Gugino as Verna and Kate Siegel as Camille L’Espanaye.

You don’t know Mike Flanagan yet and want to convince yourself of his skills first? Then the author of this article can only recommend you to take a look at his previous works. Whether it’s the supernatural horror thriller “Oculus” with Marvel star Karen Gillan or the nerve-wracking chamber drama “Still”, the terrific “Shining” sequel “Doctor Sleep’s Awakening” or one of his previous Netflix productions like “Haunted Hill House”, “Haunted Bly Manor” and “Midnight Mass” – all these movies and series already impressively demonstrate what Flanagan is capable of.

“The Fall of the House of Usher” centers on Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell), who have built their family pharmaceutical business into a powerful empire. But when a mysterious woman from their youth enters the scene and more and more heirs to the Usher empire are killed, sinister secrets threaten to come to light…
