Recognized in “One Piece?” In this other Netflix hit was

The main cast of “One Piece” consists mainly of young actors. Nevertheless, some of them already have relevant film and series experience, such as “Ruffy” Iñaki Godoy, who is already an old acquaintance at Netflix…

At the center of “One Piece” is the upstart pirate gang of Monkey D. Ruffy, who sets out in search of the titular treasure. Even though the individual crew members have already experienced quite a bit in the past (as we learn in flashbacks), they are all still quite young – just like their actors and actresses.

Many may have seen the up-and-coming stars in a project for the first time ever – or at least think they have. Because although the “One Piece” adaptation is the biggest project to date for the Straw Hat Pirate cast, they are all far from newcomers. Ruffy actor Iñaki Godoy, in particular, already has a number of films and series to his name, some of which have already been shown on Netflix…

IÑAKI GODOY IN “WHO MURDERED SARA? “

Early in his career, Iñaki Godoy was in demand as a child and youth actor, but initially exclusively in productions in his native Mexico, which hardly anyone in this country is likely to have seen. For example, he starred in 128 of 141 episodes of the dark telenovela “La Querida Del Centauro.

Thanks to Netflix, however, the now 20-year-old became known to a larger international audience even before “One Piece. Thus, starting in 2021, he was part of the supporting cast of the first two seasons of the Mexican Netflix hit “Who Murdered Sara?” as Bruno, stepson of the main character Rodolfo (Alejandro Nones):

“ONE PIECE” ROLE THANKS TO “THE IMPERFECTS” DEPOSITION

This part may have helped him even land one of the lead roles in another Netflix series shortly after: “The Imperfects” featured Iñaki Godoy as one of three teenagers who are turned into monsters through genetic experiments. However, the fantasy series was not as successful as “Who Murdered Sara? After just one season, the series ended – which ultimately proved to be a stroke of luck for “One Piece.

If Godoy had continued to play in “The Imperfects,” he would hardly have had time to lead another major Netflix series in parallel. And so we would have had to do without a Ruffy actor who, for numerous fans – and also manga template creator Eiichirō Oda – is the absolute ideal cast for the optimistic dreamer. Fortunately, however, things turned out differently, even if Godoy’s previous project had to fail at first to make up for it.
