Lately, Netflix has made headlines mainly because series have been cancelled again and again, much to the annoyance of fans. But there is another way: Apparently, the Japanese series “Alice In Borderland” will get a third season.
The first season of “Alice In Borderland” was already released on Netflix in December 2020 and was such a great success that the streaming service announced a second season after only two weeks – rather a rarity nowadays, because Netflix usually waits longer to see whether a series or a film will be a success. The Netflix super-hit “Squid Game” even gave “Alice In Borderland” another boost in popularity before the second season appeared in December 2022.
Fans who had hoped for another quick renewal had to accept disappointment, however, because almost a year has passed since then without Netflix announcing a third season of “Alice In Borderland”. But the streaming service may have already secretly renewed the sci-fi action-survival battle reminiscent of “Battle Royale” and “Squid Game” for a third season.
On X (formerly Twitter) there are some posts from Japan that seem to show posters for “Alice In Borderland”. And that’s not all: they may also contain a code announcing a third season, as shown by an X user with the username @Chp_marke:

If you write down the English words for the playing card suits Clubs, Spades, Hearts and Diamonds according to the poster (Clover, Spade, Hearts, Diamond) and then pick out the letter that corresponds to the number on the playing card, you get the words “Alice Three”, or (possibly) “Alice In Borderland” Season 3.
Although “Alice In Borderland” is not in the current top 10 of the most successful non-English-language Netflix series of all time (neither season 1 nor season 2), it is still one of the biggest hits of the streaming service. Therefore, we could well imagine that a third season has indeed been announced – and possibly even already filmed. But of course this is not yet official.
In “Alice In Borderland”, the rather haphazard gamer Ryōhei Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) finds himself one day in a deserted version of Tokyo, where he and other people have to fight and play for their survival. Anyone who loses or tries to escape is murdered. Of necessity, Arisu teams up with Yuzuha Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya)…
