Sex therapist O (aka Sarah Owen) is probably the most striking addition to the fourth and final season of “Sex Education”. If actress Thaddea Graham looks familiar to you, it’s probably mostly due to two other major Netflix titles…
After transferring to Cavendish College, “Sex Education” main character Otis (Asa Butterfield) actually wants to help his fellow students as a sex therapist at his new educational institution. The problem is that Cavendish already has a teen sex therapist, the hard-boiled O (whose real name is Sarah Owen). A fierce competition begins.
O is played by 26-year-old Thaddea Graham, who was abandoned as a baby in her native China and, after being adopted, grew up in Northern Ireland before eventually embarking on an acting career in the UK. Graham has so far worked almost exclusively in series, but despite her young age already has a number of projects on her CV.
After her debut in a few episodes of the British sci-fi children’s series “The Sparticle Mystery”, she was part of the main cast in the series “Curfew”, “Us”, “Redemption” and “Wreck”, which are also rather unknown in this country (although with stars such as Sean Bean or Tom Hollander they have a prominent cast). She also had a recurring role in four episodes of the 13th remake season of the cult series “Doctor Who”.
ANOLD NETFLIX-KNOWN
Internationally, however, Graham is probably best known for her central parts in no less than two lavish series productions, which she already filmed for streaming provider Netflix before “Sex Education”: She first had a major supporting role as warrior Iona in the fantasy adventure “The Letter for the King”. In the gritty young detective series “The Baker Street Gang” shortly afterwards, she even led the young cast that assists the legendary duo Sherlock Holmes and James Watson in their investigations.
Both projects, however, had no future. While in the case of the book adaptation “The Letter for the King” it is somewhat unclear whether a second season was even on the cards, “The Baker Street Gang” was prematurely cancelled after Season 1 due to lack of interest. With the fourth season of “Sex Education”, however, Thaddea Graham subsequently snatched up the next Netflix job, which will certainly be followed by several more.
