After five decades in the film industry and a fresh Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress in “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” Jamie Lee Curtis truly has all doors open in Hollywood. And if it were up to her, she would next set sail with the Straw Hat Gang from “One Piece”, as she shared with her fans on Instagram at the weekend.
So the “Halloween” icon posted pictures of fan favourite Doctor Kureha and let slip, “Once the strike against the AMTPT’s greed is sealed with a fair contract, I will lobby with the growing fan community to play Doctor Kureha in @onepiecenetflix. “
Curtis outed herself as a fan of the “One Piece” franchise back in 2017 when she attended the premiere of “One Piece: Gold” with her daughter Ruby. Later, the daughter also let slip how much her mother would love to play Doctor Kureha in a live-action adaptation, according to The Wrap.

The chances of this dream now becoming a reality are better than ever, as Curtis’ public application has already been received by showrunner Matt Owens. He commented enthusiastically under Curtis’ post: “Mommy dearest, that’s why we sent you this character! No need to lobby! Let’s talk once we get what we deserve and get back to work!”
Even though a second season of “One Piece” was confirmed shortly after the series launched on Netflix, production is currently on hold due to the strikes in Hollywood. The fact that a possible agreement was reached over the weekend, at least regarding the strike of the scriptwriters, should not only please “One Piece” fans, but also Jamie Lee Curtis.
DOCTOR KUREHA: ALREADY HOTLY ANTICIPATED BY FANS
Defoted fans have been anticipating a possible appearance of Doctor Kureha in season 2 of “One Piece” for a while now. After all, fan favourite Tony Chopper has already been confirmed for the new episodes of the adventure series.
Kureha acts as a mentor for little Chopper and passes on her medical knowledge as well as her unconventional methods to him. But she also has some other superpowers, which makes her an exciting female character in the “One Piece” universe – no wonder Curtis is interested in Doctor Kureha.
