Plot and background

As a Special Forces soldier, Mason Pettits (John Cena) was in his element until a major back injury caught up with him and instead he earns a living as a lawyer for his wife (Alice Eve) and children. However, everyday life bores him to death and so he listens with interest when an old military buddy and boss of a dubious security company (Christian Slater) makes him an offer he won’t refuse. As a bodyguard, he is to accompany the award-winning journalist Claire Wellington (Alison Brie) to an interview in Latin America.

The country of Paldonia is ruled by the notorious dictator Juan Arturo Venegas (Juan Pablo Raba). Claire would be the first journalist ever allowed to interview him. Once there, the drive from the airport through the jungle becomes a fight for survival: a military coup wants to overthrow the dictator and has launched a targeted attack on the motorcade. Claire and the dictator survive with great difficulty – mainly thanks to the help of Mason Pettits. The curious trio must fight their way through the jungle and experience one dicey situation after another.
