The Creator: Sci-fi epic from “Rogue One” director about the battle between humans and artificial intelligence
Plot and background
In the near future, there is a war between humans and robots. Joshua (John David Washington), separated from his wife Maya (Gemma Chan) in an attack, has had to go five years without her. Now he is once again sent to the war zone on an important mission. The tough special forces soldier is to search for a mysterious weapon from “The Creator” with an elite squad. This artificial intelligence has created a weapon that has the potential to end the war – and incidentally wipe out humanity.
But it is only when he arrives deep behind enemy lines that he discovers the mysterious weapon is a robot in the form of a human child named Alphie (Madeline Yuna Voyles). The moral dilemma for Joshua is undeniable: Does he kill an innocent child who is a robot but means no harm to the world? Or does he take it into his care, putting his own life and the lives of those around him in danger?
