After the mega-success of “Vikings”, a spin-off series came to Netflix with “Vikings: Valhalla”, which is now coming to an end after three seasons. There are now some new pictures of the final season, which will be released in 2024.
It doesn’t come as a complete surprise, because “Vikings: Valhalla” was initially set to run for three seasons by Netflix: The streaming service directly ordered 24 episodes, which were divided into three seasons – and now decided not to continue the Viking series, in which things get pretty brutal and bloody, after that. The fact that the story arc was designed for three seasons from the beginning now gives hope that “Vikings: Valhalla” will come to a rounded conclusion. Nevertheless, series creator Jeb Stuart had hoped for a fourth season…
Stuart repeatedly said in interviews that he already had ideas for a fourth season – and not just for another season, but for seasons 4, 5 and 6, because the first “Valhalla” trilogy could have been followed by another one if there was enough audience interest. But for now Netflix seems to have had enough of the Viking adventures: Season 3 of “Vikings: Valhalla,” which will be released in 2024, is now officially the last in the series.
THE JOURNEY OF FRIDA, HARALD AND LEIF ENDS
This means the adventures of Harald (Leo Suter), Frida (Frida Gustavsson) and Leif (Sam Corlett), set about 100 years after the events of Michael Hirst’s original series “Vikings” and very loosely based on true historical events or personalities, will come to an end as early as next year – and Jeb Stuart is making his peace with it, according to Deadline:
“Of course, with real historical figures, there are always other aspects about their lives that could be explored, but story-wise it made sense to have the journeys of Leif, Freydis and Harald end with our third season.” He said the series creator can now hardly wait for fans to see the “conclusion of this chapter of history”. And who knows: maybe in the future they’ll just open up a whole new “Vikings” chapter on Netflix again…
PICS OF SEASON 3 OF “VIKINGS: VALHALLA “
To fuel the anticipation for the finale, here are some new images for season 3 of “Vikings: Valhalla”:
After the end of season 2, we were already wondering how the final season might continue – and the new images confirm that a large part of the plot will revolve around Harald Sigurdsson’s adventures in Constantinople, where he meets the Byzantine general George Maniakes (Florian Munteanu), among others. And things get dicey for Freydis as the guardian of the old faith…
