The theory of everything : German black and white thriller about mysterious events at a physics congress in the Alps.
Plot and background
Johannes Leinert (Jan Bülow) is working on his dissertation. All the greater the honor when he is allowed to travel with his doctoral advisor (Hanns Zischler) to a physics congress at the Hotel Esplanade in the Swiss Alps. An Iranian scientist is expected to give a lecture on quantum mechanics, from which the guests expect groundbreaking insights. But the speaker is late, leaving the well-read company with nothing to do but bridge the gap with witty dinner parties and sporting excursions in the snowy ski resort. When Johannes meets the mysterious pianist Karin Hönig (Olivia Ross), he immediately feels a great attraction to her, but the young woman seems to know things about the doctoral student that she can’t actually know. The rollicking time at the winter sports domicile is overshadowed by the sudden and gruesome death of a German physicist. The investigators quickly rule out a natural cause of death and go in search of the murderer, while suddenly the young pianist disappears and Johannes uncovers a dark secret deep under the mountain.
The trailer promises a visually stunning, suspenseful thriller:
