Sony Pictures Classics has released Freud’s Last Session teaser trailer for the upcoming historical drama, starring Anthony Hopkins as famed neurologist Sigmund Freud and Matthew Goode as acclaimed writer C.S. Lewis.
The video features two brilliant men as they discussed each of their beliefs over the existence of God. The film will have its world premiere tomorrow at the 2023 AFI Fest, followed by a limited release on December 22.

What to expect in Freud’s Last Session?
“On the eve of the Second World War, two of the greatest minds on the twentieth century, C.S. Lewis and Sigmund Freud converge for their own personal battle over the existence of God,” reads the synopsis. “The film interweaves the lives of Freud and Lewis, past, present, and through fantasy, bursting from the confines of Freud’s study on a dynamic journey.”
Freud’s Last Session is directed by from a screenplay written by Mark St. Germain, based on Armand Nicholi’s book The Question of God. Joining Hopkins and Goode are Live Lisa Fries, Jodi Balfour, Orla Brady, Stephen Campbell Moore, Rhys Mannion, David Shields, Pádraic Delaney, Tarek Bishara and more. The film is produced by Alan Greisman, Rick Nicita, and Meg Thomson.
