A few days ago, Sapkowski was a guest at Comic-Con in Vienna, where he spoke about the adventures of Geralt of Riva, as the Hollywood Reporter notes. When it came to the question of whether he had given Netflix feedback on The Witcher, he said:
Maybe I gave them some ideas, but they never listened to me. That’s normal.
Imitating a Netflix producer, he adds:
‘Who’s that? It’s a writer, so it’s a nobody.’
Obviously, Sapkowski didn’t have high hopes for The Witcher from the outset because, as the inventor of the continent, he doesn’t have much say in its realization. Disney+, meanwhile, has taken a different approach. For the Percy Jackson series, Rick Riordan, the author of the original, was brought on board to ensure that the story was properly realized this time after the disappointing films.
