It’s been known since April that a Twilight series is coming and if director Catherine Hardwicke had her way, Jenna Ortega would play Bella Swan. She would also have a perfect candidate for Edward
Jenna Ortega is currently one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood. Filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the hugely successful Twilight films, is well aware of this. Like Harry Potter, for example, Twilight is being remade as a series and Hardwicke has an idea of who can fill the shoes of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson
Jenna Ortega as Kristen Steward’s successor: Twilight director would love it
The Twilight book and film series is worth millions and is one of the most successful fantasy franchises ever. The five films have grossed over 3.3 billion US dollars worldwide. It’s no wonder that the brand is set to live on. All we know so far is that author Stephenie Meyer’s story is being revived – as a series. It is not yet known who we will see as Bella and Edward. What is clear, however, is that Stewart and Pattinson will not be returning
Director Catherine Hardwicke has guided the actors Stewart and Pattinson, who were still unknown at the beginning of the Twilight films. Hardwicke knows the roles of Bella and Edward inside out and has a good sense of who can portray them. In an interview with Hardwicke on the Watch-a-long podcast, the names Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Jacob Elordi (The Kissing Booth) are mentioned:
[Jacob Elordi] is fantastic. He would probably be Edward these days. […] I think there are a lot of really cool young actors today. You just mentioned someone else: Jenna Ortega is great.
Hardwicke had pushed hard for Robert Pattinson in the original Twilight casting, even though the studio was suspicious. She proved a good hand with that. So we can trust her with Ortega and Elordi.

Young Netflix stars: This is how you know Jenna Ortega and Jacob Elordi
Jenna Ortega has been the talk of the town since her starring role as Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday. Season 2 is already being planned. Ortega first became known as a teenager in In the Middle and No Escape and was most recently seen in the Scream series.

Jacob Elordi is not quite as well known as Jenna Ortega, but he too is familiar to avid Netflix fans. He appeared in all three parts of The Kissing Booth trilogy as Noah Flynn. From January 4, 2024, he can be seen in the cinema as Elvis in Sophia Coppola’s Priscilla
Whether Ortega and Elordi are actually being considered for the new Twilight series is unknown. It may well be that, as with the movies, lesser-known actors will be cast.
