Battle Angel Alita is one of the most popular sci-fi films of recent years, and fans are longing for a sequel. Now producer Jon Landau talks about the sequels

Persistence pays off. That certainly applies to Alita: Battle Angel, for which sci-fi fans have been calling for a sequel for a long time. However, after producer James Cameron (Avatar) promised several sequels, the franchise went quiet again. Now his companion and producer Jon Landau (Titanic) is giving the community hope again

Sci-fi highlight Alita: Battle Angel is definitely to be continued

According to Screen Rant Landau explained:

I’m very proud of the movie. It was on HBO one night and James [Cameron] saw it and called me afterward. He said, “Jon, Alita just came on. It turned out to be a good movie.” And I think so too. I definitely want to do more with this world.

A few months ago, James Cameron delighted sci-fi fans with the prospect of several Alita sequels. The fact that two Hollywood veterans, Cameron and Landau, are behind the franchise raises high hopes. Since its theatrical release in 2019, the film has gained a loyal fan base, but is probably difficult to sell as the cornerstone of a franchise due to its meagre box office takings.

Alita: Battle Angel revolves around the cyborg Alita (Rosa Salazar), who wants to discover the secret of her own origins in a dystopian future. When she’s not mixing up the underworld of her city as a bounty hunter. The story of part 1 ended with a cliffhanger
