Vin Diesel is best known for action films such as Fast & Furious, Triple X and Riddick. The actor also pursues a completely different passion: fantasy role-playing games. Diesel is an avid fan of Dungeons & Dragons and has already experienced many adventures as an intrepid warrior.
In the pen-and-paper role-playing game, he has even created a character so close to his heart that he used him as inspiration for the movie The Last Witch Hunter. As the witch hunter Kaulder, he tries to protect the world from an evil force in the fantasy adventure. He is supported by big names:

The story of The Last Witch Hunter begins with a prologue in the Middle Ages. Kaulder confronts the powerful Witch Queen (Julie Engelbrecht). With the last of his strength, he is able to defeat her. But the price for this victory is high: Kaulder is cursed. From then on, he is immortal. But he can never find peace

Kaulder’s curse brings us to the present day. There, Diesel is joined by Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie and Elijah Wood, who most people will recognize from another fantasy series. He played Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Wood also took on the iconic role in the first Hobbit film.
Although everything about The Last Witch Hunter suggests that the film was planned as the start of a film series, there has been no sign of life from the continuation of the story for three years. At the beginning of 2020, Diesel was still confident that the studio would wave The Last Witch Hunter 2 through. Nothing came after that.
This is not the only franchise reboot by Diesel that has failed in recent years. The similarly themed Bloodshot, in which he plays a supernatural warrior, has also failed to spawn a film series to date. Instead, Diesel diligently returns as Dom Toretto in the Fast & Furious films.
