Angelina Jolie has revealed in a new interview that she wants to turn her back on Hollywood. Before that, however, she will return as the cult fantasy character in Maleficent 3.
Angelina Jolie has millions of fans even as the evil fairy. At least that was the case with the popular fantasy blockbusters Maleficent and Maleficent 2: Powers That Be, whose popularity is due in no small part to Jolie’s iconic embodiment of the titular anti-heroine. Now she has confirmed her return in Maleficent 3.
Fantasy star wants to shoot Maleficent 3 and then leave Hollywood
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Jolie explained that she will be back in front of the camera as a fairy for Maleficent 3. Exact details about the story and the rest of the cast are currently unknown. The project was first confirmed back in 2021 (via Giant Freakin Robot ).

The project must be very close to Jolie’s heart, because otherwise she seems to have had enough of Hollywood. “I will move away when I can,” she explained in the interview, “I grew up in a very superficial place. Hollywood is not a healthy place. You look for authenticity.”
Jolie was born in California and was already in front of the camera as a child alongside her father Jon Voight in Two in the Ink. She won an Oscar for Crazy in 1999 and became a star in 2001 with her role in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In the 2010s and 2020s, she took longer breaks from acting to devote herself to her humanitarian interests. She was last seen in Eternals in 2021
When will Maleficent 3 be released in cinemas?
There is no start date for Maleficent 3 yet. The current state of production is difficult to estimate, but we do not expect a release before the end of 2024.
