Rebel Moon: Child of Fire is set to be Netflix’s biggest sci-fi film of the year. Unfortunately, the reviews of Zack Snyder’s epic are now sobering
Some sci-fi films are in production for years only to be torn to shreds in the end. Unfortunately, this also seems to be the case with Zack Snyder’s hotly anticipated epic Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire, if we take a look at the first reviews.
Sci-fi smash hit Rebel Moon rejected by early reviews: “space bore “
As can be read on Meta Critic, the first major reviews of the film are largely negative. “Ugly and tedious” is how the Hollywood Reporter describes the aesthetic effect of the film, which it calls a “space bore”. The Daily Beast speaks of a “cheap copy”, and Indie Wire critic David Ehrlich even wishes he had never seen the movie.
Some better reviews, for example from Screen Rant , concede that the film has “exciting ideas” but fails to back them up with interesting characters and a good plot. The biggest criticism for many is an unimaginative story with one-dimensional characters.
We are still in the early stages of reading the reviews. However, the trend on the review aggregator Meta Critic is currently pointing downwards. The first social media reactions to the sci-fi film were still very positive
