An underrated adventure film by director grandmaster Steven Spielberg, which was supposed to start a trilogy, is hiding in the ZDF media library. Parts 2 and 3 have still not been released
When Steven Spielberg teams up with Lord of the Rings mastermind Peter Jackson to bring a big action adventure to theaters, the event should be the biggest blockbuster of the year. However, success was only partially on the side of the two filmmakers in their lavish Tintin adaptation.
The Adventures of Tintin – The Secret of the Unicorn was planned as the start of a trilogy dedicated to the characters created by Hergé. After more than a decade of waiting, however, we have to admit that there will probably never be a second, let alone a third part of the story.
Great adventure film by Steven Spielberg: Tintin streamed for free in the ZDF media library
The first adventure that the intrepid reporter Tintin (Jamie Bell) experiences with his dog Snowy and the rough-and-tumble Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) definitely leaves you wanting more. You can currently stream the fast-paced animated film free of charge for six days in the ZDF Mediathek
Here you can watch the trailer for Spielberg’s Tintin:
The story of the movie is made up of three comics. First, there is the eponymous volume The Secret of the Unicorn. In addition, The Crab with the Golden Scissors and The Treasure of Rackham the Red were an important inspiration for the film adaptation, which was realized using motion capture technology.
In concrete terms, this means that although we are dealing with an animated film, the scenes were not created entirely on a computer. Instead, Spielberg filmed his cast in special suits with reference points so that every movement of the actors could later be transferred to the animated character.
The result is one of the most exciting adventure films of the 2010s. Spielberg pulls out all the stops to stage a fast-paced treasure hunt with plenty of action and a detailed and playful design. The Adventures of Tintin is one of Spielberg’s most light-footed blockbusters.
