Whoever watches Netflix series will have to be particularly strong again this year and be prepared for a lot of cancellations. You can find an overview of all 29 series that have already been canceled by Netflix in 2023 here
No streaming service releases as many new series every year as Netflix. But of the more than 100 original series each year, only very few make it past one season. Fans often have to spend months worrying about the fate of their favorite shows. And often the shocking verdict follows: canceled.
Over 20 series were canceled in 2022. Netflix has set a new record this year. In the first month alone, the premature endings of seven series were announced. To keep you up to date, you can find an overview of all Netflix cancellations in 2023 here

Waco O’Guin and Roger Black previously created the series Paradise PD for Netflix, which ran for four seasons. Their follow-up project is about Prince Fichael and his crew who leave their city to fight vicious aliens. After 10 episodes, it was already over.

With this spin-off, Netflix wanted to build on the success of the Vikings series Vikings and commissioned three seasons in 2021. However, fan reactions were disillusioned right from the start. Even before the third season, which had already been filmed, was broadcast, Netflix announced its cancellation. The teen comedy was launched in February 2023 as a spin-off of the Netflix series On My Block, which was canceled after 4 seasons. In it, a group of friends from a small town in California conjure up a deadly curse. Netflix pulled the plug after 2 months and canceled a 2nd season of Freeridge.

Immediately after the start of season 5, series creator Chris Nee announced on Twitter that Netflix has canceled the show. Ridley Jones was the first Netflix animated series for preschoolers with a non-binary recurring character.

Once again, Netflix didn’t waste any time. Just two months after its launch, the Turkish sci-fi series Hot Skull joins the ranks of Netflix shows canceled after just one season. Hot Skull boasted an innovative dystopian premise and told of a world in which a virus is transmitted by language. The infected babble mindlessly to themselves until they completely succumb to the madness.

Sex and the City creator Darren Star created a real hit for Netflix with Emily in Paris. Uncoupled should be the next RomCom hit. In it, Neil Patrick Harris plays a homosexual man in his mid-forties who is left by his partner after 17 years and now has to find his way in the dating scene in New York.
In February 2023, he was surprisingly rescued by the US broadcaster Showtime. It officially commissioned a 2nd season

Hamish Steele’s comic book adaptation wasn’t just supernatural, spooky and above all fun adventure fun centered around a theme park’s haunted house attraction. Dead End: Paranormal Park was also another queer milestone for LGBTQ+ representation in cartoon series. After the initially ordered two seasons and a cliffhanger ending, the series was canceled.

It wasn’t until almost two years after the release of the first season that the secret cancellation of the German sci-fi dystopia was officially announced. Tribes of Europa followed the experiences of three siblings who find themselves caught between the fronts of a war between several tribes in post-apocalyptic Europe. It’s another case of so-called ghost cancelations that Netflix itself has never announced.

Nevertheless, we would have preferred to see the 3-season master plan completed
