After the Young Sheldon finale, there will be a spin-off to the Big Bang Theory series. It will return to the format of the parent series. But when will it appear on Netflix?
Fans of the comedy series Young Sheldon can dry their tears. The Big Bang Theory prequel, which can be streamed on Netflix and elsewhere, is set to end this year with its seventh season. However, it will return shortly afterwards with a spin-off. And surprise the community with a big change
Young Sheldon spin-off continues Big Bang Theory universe in the old style
As Deadline reports, preparations are currently being finalized for a Young Sheldon spin-off about Sheldon’s older brother Georgie (Montana Jordan) and his girlfriend Mandy (Emily Osment). Jordan and Osment are set to return in their roles. Further details about the story, such as when exactly the spin-off takes place, are not yet known. If Sheldon himself appears in the spin-off, he will probably be played by Young Sheldon lead actor Iain Armitage, according to the report
The spin-off will also return to the multi-camera format of The Big Bang Theory’s parent series. Young Sheldon, on the other hand, was shot in single-camera format, in which scenes are only filmed with one camera at a time. Single-camera formats often allow for a more personal, intimate look at the individual characters, while multi-camera series such as Friends require less effort and deliver a typical sitcom look.
When is the Young Sheldon spin-off coming to Netflix and co.
The Young Sheldon spin-off is scheduled to appear on US TV in late 2024 or early 2025. It is not yet known whether it will also be available on Netflix.
Season 7 of Young Sheldon will be broadcast on CBS in the USA from February 2024. In Germany, the series will first be shown on ProSieben with a delay of a few months. The finale is therefore not expected to be shown on Netflix until 2025
