Streaming subscription for the first time: Disastrous Sylvester Stallone crap is an insult to every action fan

by Tommy

After the miserable The Expendables 3, the new installment of Sylvester Stallone’s action series was even worse. You can now stream The Expendables 4 as a subscription or do other good things with your life

After The Expendables 3, the action series starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham & Co. couldn’t really sink any lower. With tame, bloodless action and interchangeable young stars alongside the old action legends, the 2014 sequel was a failure that Sly himself did not want to repeat.

The Expendables 4 was re-released in cinemas last year with a tougher FSK 18 rating, but that’s all the positive things that can be said about the film. You can now watch the latest sequel for the first time with a subscription to Sky’s streaming service WOW. But there’s no reason why you should do that

The Expendables 4 is an ugly action franchise

How the action sequel came up with an alleged budget of 100 million dollars is one of the biggest mysteries of The Expendables 4. The movie looks like the cheapest VoD junk with at most a fraction of the alleged cost.

Read it yet? Jason Statham embarrasses Sylvester Stallone (and himself): His new action movie is already running The Expendables 4 into the ground

The poor CGI effects and embarrassing green screen backdrops are normally unimaginable in a Hollywood blockbuster from 2023 and it’s unbelievable that the actioner was even released in cinemas looking so unfinished

Action stars in The Expendables 4? Good joke

It’s possible that a lot of The Expendables 4 budget was spent on the stars’ fees, but there aren’t many of them left. Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture play their small parts so unmotivated and bored that you wonder if they were even on set with the rest of the cast

You can watch Yves’ video review of The Expendables 4 here:

Stallone as leader of the Expendables team is removed directly from the movie after about 10 minutes, which is not even consistently followed through by the story. If you still want to watch The Expendables 4, which you should definitely not do, we at least don’t want to “ruin” this outrageous “surprise” for you beforehand.

Instead, the movie introduces new team members like Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and Jacob Scipio, who don’t leave a single lasting impression. Megan Fox is the most prominent new addition and was teased in advance as the new leader of the squad. In the movie, however, she is largely reduced to a prickly pawn for Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas.

According to Box Office Mojo, the fourth installment in the action series grossed a paltry 37 million dollars worldwide. This means it has long been officially regarded as one of the biggest disasters of Sylvester Stallone’s career. There is something good about The Expendables 4 after all
