There’s an outstanding Star Wars movie on TV tonight. And the best thing is: since the year before last, there has been a terrific prequel to the dark action spectacle
Almost every Star Wars film causes great debate among fans. We have experienced this several times in recent years with the sequel trilogy. In between, however, there was one exception where the majority agreed: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. For many, it is a perfect Star Wars film.
The story begins shortly before the events of Star Wars and tells the story of how the rebels obtained the plans for the first Death Star. The focus is on Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), the daughter of Death Star architect Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen). The film also features another important character
The story of Rogue One was expanded with the magnificent Star Wars series Andor at Disney+
In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we meet Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), a captain and intelligence officer who puts his life on the line for the Rebel Alliance. But Cassian was not a convinced rebel from the start. The spin-off series Andor, released two years ago by Disney+, tells his backstory.
You can watch the trailer for Andor here:
Five years before Rogue One, Cassian lives on the run-down planet Ferrix, which resembles the junkyard of the galaxy. The sun rarely makes an appearance. The presence of the Empire, on the other hand, is increasing, primarily due to the security corporation Preox-Morlana, which closely monitors everything that happens in the sector.
When Cassian is checked by two Pre-Mor employees one night, the situation escalates and he leaves the scene as a murderer. From then on, he finds himself on the run and comes into contact with a radical rebel cell that is planning a tricky heist. Before Cassian knows it, he finds himself in a much bigger conflict.

Andor is a terrific prequel. Although we know how Cassian’s story ends, the series manages to build incredible tension over twelve episodes. Tony Gilroy, the creative mind behind the project, has created one of the most gripping Star Wars stories that doesn’t shy away from any awkward questions.
Andor navigates the moral gray areas between the Rebellion and the Empire and features some of the best Star Wars writing ever. Brilliant dialog, complex characters and nerve-wracking storylines, most of which are told over the course of three episodes each.
