Since 1993, people have been seeing the time of the dinosaurs with different eyes. That year, Steven Spielberg’s sci-fi masterpiece Jurassic Park was released in cinemas and thrilled audiences with its story about prehistoric lizards, its effects and its unrelenting suspense. The Jurassic Park film series is now available to stream on Amazon Prime.

Jurassic Park is set in the amusement park of the same name owned by visionary entrepreneur John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), which is populated by cloned dinosaurs. Just as various guests such as the scientist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) visit the island, the safety net of the facility fails, allowing many animals to escape. Among them are a gigantic T-Rex and murderous packs of raptors.

The first Jurassic Park film has been considered a masterpiece by many fans since its release. Its box office success laid the foundation for a film franchise that now comprises six films, including the Jurassic World trilogy. According to The Numbers, the entire cinema franchise has so far grossed more than six billion US dollars worldwide.
However, the path to the successful sci-fi universe was not always rosy. Steven Spielberg regrets the second part of the series to this day. After the third Jurassic World film, the future of the franchise is currently uncertain.
