Competition for Amazon’s The Boys: Ultra-tough superhero series to get 3 new films at once

Last year, a new Kick-Ass film was announced. Now the director has revealed a bigger plan for it, promising a totally weird trilogy. And bloody competition from The Boys.

Ten years after Part 2, Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn confirmed in October 2023 that he is working on a new film in the violent superhero series. The success of Kick-Ass at the time opened the door for later genre productions such as Deadpool or Amazon’s The Boys series. So far, there have been hardly any details about the content of the reboot. The director has only assured us that none of the old characters will return.

Now Vaughn has revealed details of his current Kick-Ass plan, which will make the upcoming film the finale of a completely different trilogy. It sounds as ambitious as it is confusing

New Kick-Ass film to complete trilogy, the first part of which has already been shot

As Collider has exclusively learned, the mysterious Kick-Ass reboot is intended to be the finale of an as-yet-unknown trilogy. Vaughn spoke about how the script for the superhero reboot is about halfway written.

At the same time, the new Kick-Ass part is supposed to be the final installment after two completely different films. One of them is finished, called School Fight and was co-produced by Vaughn and directed by former stunt coordinator and now director Damien Walters.

As the title makes abundantly clear, School Fight revolves around several students who settle their conflicts in brutal fights. Vaughn didn’t explain how the whole story fits into a Kick-Ass superhero universe. The middle part of the trilogy is to be a film called Vram, for which there is no information yet.

When will the new trilogy with the Kick-Ass reboot be released in cinemas?

Release details for all three new films are not yet available. You can next watch Matthew Vaughn’s entertaining agent thriller Argylle with Henry Cavill, which will be released in cinemas before the Apple TV+ release on February 1, 2024
