Over 20 years after the original, Michael “Bully” Herbig has surprisingly announced a Schuh des Manitu sequel. The sequel, entitled Das Kanu des Manitu, is due to be released in German cinemas in 2025. Fans are already debating whether the humor is still appropriate for today’s world.

Bullyparade movie already delivered unofficial Schuh des Manitu sequel 7 years ago
The Bullyparade film revisits the most popular parody segments from the cult show. Immediately after the intro, we start with a Western segment that comes across as an unofficial Shoe of Manitou sequel. Bully and Christian Tramitz play their usual roles from the movie, although this time their real names are Winnetou and Old Shatterhand thanks to the expired Karl May rights.

In the plot, Winnetou seeks out his old friend 15 years after an argument because he wants him as best man for his planned wedding to the daughter of General Motors. However, Old Shatterhand is being pursued by a bounty hunter because he is alleged to have murdered US President Abraham Lincoln.

Other than that, the western passage in the Bullyparade film presents itself as the usual wacky gag spectacle, with lots of weird dialects, puns and situation comedy reminiscent of Der Schuh des Manitu. Stars such as Sky du Mont are also back, while Elyas M’Barek, for example, drops in for a brief guest appearance.
It is noticeable that the character Winnetouch from the 2001 film no longer appears. This may already be an indication that Bully is also dispensing with the polarizing character for Das Kanu des Manitu, which will be released in 2025.
