This psycho-horror thriller, which initially received a very mixed reception, is the prequel to the legendary Twin Peaks series and is now available in a new 4K Steelbook for home cinema
When Twin Peaks: The Movie by Mytery old master David Lynch was released in cinemas in 1992, the film, which was too divergent for established fans and too overwhelming for newcomers, was met with boos at the Cannes premiere. From today’s perspective, however, the prequel adaptation of the successful series of the same name (ranked 15th in the Moviepilot ranking) is just as much a cult film as the original
In June, a new steelbook edition with 4K Ultra HD resolution and additional Blu-ray will be released in a limited edition, which you can already pre-order on Amazon before it is sold out. Bonus material includes a featurette and an audio commentary by renowned film scholar Prof. Dr. Marcus Stiglegger.
This is what the Twin Peaks film is about
The mysterious murder of young prostitute Teresa Banks (Pamela Gidley) in the small American town of Deer Meadow calls the FBI into action. Agents Chester Desmond (Chris Isaak) and Sam Stanley (Kiefer Sutherland) are assigned to investigate the case, but Desmond disappears without a trace in the course of the investigation, whereupon Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) takes his place.
A year after the events, seventeen-year-old schoolgirl Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee) in the small town of Twin Peaks finds herself increasingly caught up in a maelstrom of drugs, sex and nightmares that lead her further and further into the abyss. Evil forces seem to be at work and connected to the original case.
