With Alien, Ridley Scott created one of the great sci-fi horror milestones in film history. After three sequels without him in the director’s chair, he made a mix of prequel and reboot himself, which was released in 2012.
Prometheus – Dark Signs is a visually stunning genre blockbuster with philosophical depth and intense horror interludes. After the sequel from 2017, the Alien series is being steered in a different direction again this year with a new film. Before that, you can stream Prometheus
Prometheus is a superbly staged, multi-layered addition to the Alien series
Scott’s 2012 film is designed as a prequel to Alien and revolves around the members of a space crew who are investigating mysterious artifacts that reveal a star map. On an alien planet, they come across an extraterrestrial threat that also leads them to the origins of humanity.

In the story of Prometheus, the android David (Michael Fassbender) turns out to be a key figure in the dilemma between creator and creation. Even the human characters in Scott’s alien prequel have to ask themselves at some point whether they are merely a means to an end in a larger cosmic structure.
In addition to this philosophical depth and powerful sci-fi imagery, Prometheus repeatedly features violent shock scenes and horror moments that shake us up with their harshness. As a mix of a return to his own genre roots, merciless harshness, fantastic images and a fascinating mythological substructure, Scott has delivered proof of how a well-known series can be renewed.
