A few weeks after the announcement of the new Jurassic Park film, the first director’s name and cinema release date for the dinosaur reinvention have been announced. Marvel and DC will have to dress warmly
At the beginning of the year, there was little to suggest that we would see the next Jurassic Park film on the big screen as early as summer 2025. A few weeks later, however, the project is surprisingly concrete: we have known since the end of January that David Koepp is writing the seventh installment of the popular dinosaur series.
Now the question remains as to who will direct the new film. Will Steven Spielberg return to the director’s chair for a Jurassic adventure after all these years? Or can we look forward to a new name? Based on a report from Deadline, Universal has its sights set on an action specialist.
Jurassic World 4: David Leitch to inject a good dose of John Wick into the dinosaur park
David Leitch is in early negotiations to bring Jurassic World 4 to theaters. He first rose to fame as one of the two brains behind John Wick, together with stuntman Chad Stahelski. Since then, he has established himself as a reliable blockbuster director in Hollywood, from Atomic Blonde to Bullet Train.
He has also been involved in two franchises: Deadpool 2 and Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw mark his most successful action blockbusters. Next up is The Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, which – based on the trailer – looks like a declaration of love to the craft of Hollywood stunt people.
Although the Jurassic series has not lacked spectacular action scenes so far, the current choice of director seems like a clear statement that we can expect even more ruckus in Dinopark in the future. This will be necessary to hold its own against the competition, as Jurassic World 4 goes up against DC and Marvel.
Mega box office duel 2025: Jurassic Park 4 takes on Superman: Legacy and Thunderbolts in cinemas
In the USA, the film will be released on July 2, 2025, one week before the highly anticipated DC reboot Superman: Legacy and three weeks before Thunderbolts, which brings together the anti-Avengers in the Marvel universe. This means that three of the most popular franchises of our time are represented on the big screen at the same time.

There is already speculation as to whether one of the projects will be postponed in order to have more room to breathe. Looking at the box office figures, Universal has the least to worry about with Jurassic World 4. There are few other film series that have performed so reliably at the box office in recent years.

All three Jurassic World adventures have grossed over one billion US dollars at the box office. In total, the six-part series has grossed six billion US dollars. Neither Marvel nor DC can keep up with this average. We can’t wait to see who will win the blockbuster summer of 2025
