Scarlett Johansson is soon to take on the role of a drug-addicted ex-neo-Nazi. The new thriller from a cult director could be the most disturbing of Johansson’s career.
Anyone familiar with Under the Skin will know that dark roles are nothing new for Marvel star Scarlett Johansson. Compared to her next film, however, this sci-fi shocker feels like a gentle alien drama. Featherwood promises to be an ultra-tough thriller full of violence, drug addiction and tragedy, based on a true story.
Marvel star Scarlett Johansson as an ex-Neo-Nazi: That’s what Featherwood is about
As Deadline reports, Featherwood will adapt the true story of former neo-Nazi supporter Carol Blevins, an FBI informant who brought down parts of the so-called Aryan Brotherhood of Texas. The gang, known for its cruelty, operates in prisons and cities in the southern USA.
The film is based on a Dallas News series of articles by author Scott Farwell, which in several parts describes Blevin’s courageous fight against her ex-comrades, but also her drug addiction and her sobering reality after leaving the gang. According to a Deadline report, Johansson is currently negotiating for the lead role.
The film is to be directed by cult director Andrea Arnold (American Honey, Fish Tank). The title of the film refers to a female character associated with the culture of certain racist gangs.
Scarlett Johansson only wants to return to Marvel as a zombie or vampire
When is Featherwood coming to the movie theater?
