40 years ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger first appeared on screen as a taciturn android. Seven years later, Terminator 2 was released and exceeded fans’ expectations. Now an extensive anniversary edition is being released for home cinema.
In the vast majority of cases, the sequels cannot hold a candle to the popular original. However, there are a few exceptions. And James Cameron’s sci-fi masterpiece Terminator 2 is definitely one of them.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the rating among fans is 6 percent higher than for the first part and our community also rates the sequel 0.2 points higher. The popular action cult film from 1991 will be released in a new anniversary edition on February 26, 2024 and can already be pre-ordered now

While Terminator became a surprise hit in 1984 with a relatively small budget, the second part cost about ten times as much (via The Numbers ). This time, director James Cameron had 100 million at his disposal and he staged an action hit with Arnold Schwarzenegger that even surpassed its predecessor.
