Forget Marvel’s Avengers: now a completely new film universe with legendary characters is on the horizon. The Twisted Childhood Universe brings together horror versions of Winnie the Pooh, Tinkerbell and Bambi, among others.
In the 2010s, almost every film studio in Hollywood tried to create its own Marvel Cinematic Universe. This refers to a large film universe based on a well-known brand that builds up its characters over several films before they come together in a crossover event à la The Avengers.
Most of these attempts have failed, most notably Universal’s Dark Universe, which sought to unite iconic horror monsters in an epic story. However, after the starting shot, The Mummy, it was already over. But don’t worry, the next gruesome film universe is already on the horizon
Horror universe on the horizon: Winnie the Pooh, Tinkerbell and Bambi meet in the Twisted Childhood Universe
The success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey makes it possible: in the trash spectacle, the hero of numerous children’s films turns into a serial killer and causes nightmares. The horror trip was a huge success at the box office, grossing over 5.2 million US dollars on a budget of 50,000 US dollars.
The sequel, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, was quickly decided. However, as Variety has learned, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios are planning the so-called Twisted Childhood Universe. The Avengers equivalent is Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble
Just like Marvel, DC and co, the aim is to introduce different characters in their own movies before the bloodthirsty killers clash in an epic horror battlefest. Nightmare Avengers include the following names:
Winnie the Pooh
Bambi
Tinkerbell
Pinocchio
Peter Pan
Tigger
Piglet
The Mad Hatter
Sleeping Beauty
At the latest by 2025, all these characters will have entered the public domain. This means that the previous authorship is no longer valid. Anyone can make a movie with Winnie the Pooh, whether it’s a horror thriller, a sci-fi adventure or an Oscar drama. There are no limits to the imagination.
