Pat Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper) has just been released from a mental institution. He was admitted because of his manic-depressive disorder and is now doing everything he can to win back his wife Nikki. At a dinner party, he meets the emotionally unstable Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), who has taken on nymphomaniac traits since the death of her husband.
