Denzel Washington returns in his Equalizer role. The third part of the hard-hitting action series, which also appeals to John Wick fans, is now available on Netflix.
John Wick is one of the best action film series of the past decades, not only thanks to Keanu Reeves, and has served as inspiration for many genre competitors. This includes The Equalizer series, which was only concluded last year with the third part.
Netflix is now adding the finale of the trilogy to its program. All those who have a subscription to the streaming service can now watch The Equalizer 3 – The Final Chapter and see for themselves whether Denzel Washington cuts as good a figure as Keanu Reeves
The Equalizer 3 has nothing to hide from Keanu Reeves’ John Wick action
Robert McCall (Washington) has actually left his life as an agent behind him. But during his retirement in southern Italy, he once again gets caught up in criminal machinations. After he is brought to a village seriously wounded, he discovers that the community is being terrorized by a local clan.
McCall is faced with the task of taking up arms one last time and standing in the way of a whole small army of gangsters. Viewers can therefore enjoy a whole lot of John Wick-style action.
McCall also gets the help of CIA analyst Emma, played by Dakota Fanning. For her and Denzel Washington, it’s the first time in 20 years that they’ve been in front of the camera together
On Netflix: The Equalizer 3 is considered the best part of the series
On several rating platforms such as Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes, The Equalizer 3 is considered the best part of the series. Washington’s strong performance and the successful staging of the Italian setting are particularly praised. According to some, the third part also feels much more bombastic than its predecessors.
If you don’t have Netflix, the Blu-ray and DVD of The Equalizer 3 would be a good alternative
The Equalizer series can’t quite compete with the John Wick franchise in terms of box office takings (via The Numbers ). Thanks to comparatively low budgets, however, the action film series still manages to remain profitable
