Slasher horror like you’ve probably never seen before: trailer promises extreme experience from a serial killer’s perspective

A Canadian horror film already caused a stir at the Sundance Festival in January. A trailer from the killer’s perspective is now available ahead of the film’s regular release.
Since the Sundance Film Festival in January 2024, the experimental horror film In a Violent Nature by Chris Nash has been the talk of the town. At least among those who appreciate innovative slashers and don’t find it too disturbing to wander through the plot looking over the killer’s shoulder for a change. Almost as if you were controlling him as a murdering character in a video game.

Of course, the idea of a horror film with a quirky point of view is not entirely new. We’ve already seen something similar in Halloween – The Night of Horror or Behind the Mask. But that’s not the only unusual feature of the film. The Canadian production also dispenses with a soundtrack (via Variety ) and draws inspiration from the peculiarities of so-called slow cinema. The bloodshed will presumably be correspondingly slow

This is what the horror thriller In a Violent Nature is about

In In a Violent Nature, a speechless, zombie-like killer in a disturbing mask stalks a group of teenagers through the Ontario woods. According to The Canadian Press, screenwriter and director Nash cited Gus van Sant’s Death trilogy, consisting of Gerry, Elephant and Last Days, as the main inspiration for his film.

This atmospheric and thoughtful approach doesn’t seem to be entirely wrong, however, because after almost 30 professional reviews, the film has an impressive 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The cast includes Lauren-Marie Taylor, known from Friday the 13th Part 2, as well as Ry Barrett, Charlotte Creaghan and Timothy Paul McCarthy.
