Netflix has just revived a French masterpiece. You can now stream the highly suspenseful action thriller as a subscription. It is the Wages of Fear by Julien Leclercq.
The movie Wages of Fear was released in 1953 and is still relevant today, 70 years later. It was well received by critics and audiences alike on its release. Even Christopher Nolan, who recently won an Oscar for Oppenheimer, was inspired by this masterpiece during the course of his career. Today, the remake Wages of Fear is available to stream on Netflix.

Extremely exciting action thriller on Netflix: This is what Wages of Fear is all about

In an African desert, an oil well catches fire. The flames spread and a catastrophe is in the making. To make matters worse, there is a refugee camp near the well. To put a stop to the inferno, the operating company decides to get help.

Four professionals (Sofiane Zermani, Alban Lenoir, Ana Giradot and Franck Gastambide) are therefore hired. With the help of targeted explosions, they are to create pressure waves to extinguish the flames. To do this, however, they have to drive the sensitive explosives 800 kilometers through the desert without exploding first.

Action expert Julien Leclercq brings the wages of fear home and to Netflix

When you think of French action films, Luc Besson quickly comes to mind. The French director is responsible for genre classics such as Léon – The Professional and The Transporter. But Julien Leclercq was entrusted with the project instead. And he seems like a logical choice for the director’s job. After all, he has already made adrenaline-charged films such as Sentinelle and Earth and Blood for Netflix.

Leclercq is therefore no newcomer to the field. However, he is taking on a significant legacy with the remake. After all, not only is the original already stunningly good, but also the first remake, Breathless with Fear, which was made by William Friedkin in America in 1977.

With the Netflix version, the material is now returning to France. This means that we also see mainly French actors in front of the camera. Among them Alban Lenoir, who is also no newcomer to the action genre with Stray Bullet and 15 Minutes of War.
