It is one of the greatest milestones in human history. But there are conspiracy theorists who doubt that Neil Armstrong was actually the first man to set foot on the moon in 1969. Despite all the evidence, they believe that the moon landing was staged by 2001: A Space Odyssey director Stanley Kubrick.
The film To the Moon, in which superhero guru Greg Berlanti (Supergirl, Green Lantern) rewrites US history together with his stars Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum and Woody Harrelson, revolves around precisely this theme.
To the Moon tells the story of the moon landing from a new perspective
In 1968, both the USA and the Soviet Union vie to be the first nation to set foot on the moon. While NASA prepares the important rocket launch, marketing luminary Kelly Jones (Johansson) is hired to save the mission in case it fails: she is to stage a fake moon landing as a back-up.
However, it’s not just her personal feelings for the head of the rocket mission, Cole Davis (Tatum), that get in the way, but also a race against time.
