The fourth season follows on directly from the thrilling finale and the brutal attack on family head John Dutton, Kayce and Beth. The fourth season uses flashbacks to provide insights into the history of the Dutton Ranch, linking it to the prequel 1883.
Yellowstone: Controversy behind the scenes and what’s next for the franchise
After the success, things continued to be turbulent behind the scenes. First there was the threat of Kevin Costner’s involuntary exit, who was rumored to want to return for the season finale. Then there was a dispute with the other stars and the studio Paramount over the fees for another series in the Yellowstone universe. Beth actress Kelly Reilly recently denied this, but also stated that no agreement had yet been reached on how to proceed in the future.
However, there is plenty of material about the morally questionable cowboys. After all, the Dutton Ranch has been in the family for centuries and has a lot to tell. A total of four other series tell the story. The spin-off Yellowstone: 6666 is also being planned. Series creator Taylor Sheridan bought the eponymous Four Sixes Ranch, in whose shadow he grew up.
This enabled him to save the 350 million property with its 270,000 hectares of land from being subdivided. It remains to be seen exactly when the spin-off will be shown; after all, Sheridan has enough on his plate with the upcoming prequels and the 2024 sequel
