April is a fantastic month for Hunger Games fans, as the prequel The Tributes of Panem – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has finally been released in home theaters . If you watch the prequel, which takes place 64 years before Katniss Everdeen, at home, you can learn even more about the detailed realization. Many new ingenious facets are revealed in the extras

For sci-fi fans: The Tribute to Panem prequel finally on Blu-ray and 4K with a special bonus

In the sci-fi film, we find ourselves in the time of the 10th Hunger Games. The war is not long ago in the dystopian country of Panem. The defeated districts must each sacrifice two children to the Capitol as reparation, who compete against each other in a stadium. But nobody is interested in these bloody games.

A student is assigned to the tributes as a mentor to make them more attractive and increase their viewing figures. Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) is not at all enthusiastic when he picks up the girl from poor District 12. But gradually he recognizes the potential of the singing Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler).

Whether as DVD, Blu-ray or 4K: Tribute of Panem fans can now order the dark prequel to the youth dystopia for home delivery. The limited edition steelbook, which dresses the two main characters in an ultra-chic design, looks particularly beautiful on the shelf: It perfectly reflects the retro-futuristic approach of the future story, which takes place long before the other four The Hunger Games films. But the real treasures for fans are hidden in the extras of the Blu-ray and 4K version.

Hunger Games look behind the scenes: The extras reveal details that amaze even fans

The extras on the Blu-ray and 4K version of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes may surprise even hardcore fans of the Hunger Games world. Even those who may have already seen the film several times in the cinema will get to know fascinatingly detailed facets that went into the realization of the film in 8 lavish making-ofs and make the film adaptation even more ingenious

To name just one example: The Capitol apartment of Coriolanus, his grandmother and cousin Tigris (Hunter Schafer) was built in Potsdam-Babelsberg. But would you have noticed while watching that the snow apartment is shaped like a snowflake? As German production designer Uli Hanisch explains, they wanted to create a unique apartment “for which Snow would become the dictator.”

Because his impoverished family is in danger of losing their luxurious abode if he doesn’t win the Hunger Games. As a result, the apartment is not functional and “not a place to live”, but a place to show off, which captures the character of the Capitol well. And that’s just the tip of the detail iceberg you can discover on the home movie release.
