Scarlett Johansson joins Lucy, Ghost in the Shell and several Marvel films in another sci-fi project. She plays an Autobot heroine in the Transformers prequel, for which the trailer is now available
Paramount Pictures presents Transformers One – an animated prequel with an impressive English voice cast – ahead of the next Transformers movie with flesh-and-blood humans as sidekicks. A trailer, which was streamed as the first movie preview in space, is already available to watch.
It is not yet clear when the billion-dollar live-action film series will continue. However, several sequels from the so-called Transformers Cinematic Universe are in development.
Transformers One: Sci-fi battle on Cybertron
Set on the planet Cybertron, the origin story centers on the relationship between the heroic Autobot Optimus Prime and his sidekick Megatron, who go from robo-friends to bitter enemies in the course of the prequel. In the preview, we see Optimus and his mechanical friends transform into vehicles and airplanes for the first time. Autobot puberty, so to speak.

Directed by Josh Cooley, who wrote the screenplay for the Pixar film Everything Stands on its Head and directed A Toy Story: Everything Listens to No Command. Transformers One was animated by Industrial Light & Magic, who also provide the special effects for the live-action films.
Who voices the Transformers in the animated film?
Chris Hemsworth (Jurassic World) voices Orion Pax and Optimus Prime, who clash with D-16 aka Megatron, voiced by Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta). Sci-fi superstar Scarlett Johansson, who we know as Lucy from Marvel films or Cyborg from Ghost in the Shell, can be heard as the pink Autobot lady D-16, who has previously only appeared in cartoon and comic form.
Also on board are Keegan-Michael Key as B-127 and Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion and Steve Buscemi in an as yet unknown role.
